11.   a)    Define unit of force. For a body moving with uniform acceleration starting from rest, prove that the distance travelled is proportional to the square of the time.                                                                               4
b)    A bullet of mass 10 g having a velocity of 300 ms – 1 stops after penetrating 4.5 cm within a piece of wood. Find the penetrating force.                                                                                                                      2

14.    a)    Deduce the relation between real expansion and apparent expansion of liquid.                               4
b)    If the temperature of 100 cm3 of glycerin at 00C is raised through 200C, its expansion is 1.06 cm3. Find the co-efficient of real expansion of glycerin.                                                                                              2
15.    a)    Describe an experiment to determine the specific latent heat of fusion of ice.                                4
b)    Heat of 8670 J is applied to 300 gm benzene at 230C. What will be its final temperature ? Specific heat of benzene is 1700 JKg– 1 K– 1.                                                                                                        2
